5. Language switching

This project examines how the brain orchestrates the regulation between different language systems when multilingual individuals switch from one language to another. Using recent advances in cognitive neuroscience, we apply machine learning techniques known as multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA) to high temporal resolution EEG and eye-tracking data. This approach allows us to track the neural representations of distinct language systems at the moments they are activated. We aim to elucidate the dynamics of when and how these systems are activated and to understand their interaction with memory and cognitive control mechanisms. The findings will shed light on the brain's ability to adapt and manage multiple languages effectively in real-time.
